What do God-honoring Christian relationships look like and How should Christians date? 

In 1 Corinthians 6, Paul gets specific about the way in which we honor God in a world full of sexual temptation. Paul reminded the church that, to win the fight against lust, we have to train our hearts with truth and know when to run from temptation.

As the creator of our bodies and the creator of sex, God gets the last word on the way in which we use them.

This invitation by Jesus leads to a transformation in Zacchaeus, and the same is true for us! Jesus invites us into a relationship with him, no matter our past, our struggles, or anything else. 

This prayer in the face of injustice should challenge us. When we face the broken, ugly, disjointed, and messed-up stuff in our world, we can have faith. We can engage those areas in our petition to God and be inspired to take them on headfirst, filed with the Holy Spirit.

While we all acknowledge our need for increased gratitude, so many of us still recognize that we don’t live our lives gratefully. 

When we find ourselves in ugly cry moments, we can cry out to God. God loves us, hears us, and is with us in the midst of our hurting.

Using the Bible as a guide for prayer begins with us knowing and reading God’s word. We aren’t going to pray something we’ve never touched and don’t know.

We can face the struggles of life and overcome the temptation of the enemy by living a life in the protection of God’s presence and by turning our hearts to God in moments of  testing. 

God provides for his people. Often we struggle to notice his provision. We walk right past it, and the result is a weak faith that doesn’t trust God for our daily bread.

While many are willing to TALK about God’s Kingdom being manifest here on earth, I’m afraid few are willing to BE about it. 

Our posture as we come before God is important! You could say, a life of impactful prayer begins with a recognition of who you’re praying to. 

Scripture can handle the heat. It’s big enough for our questions and doubts. The Bible has endured through history and persecution. God’s word continues to outlast its doubters. When we consider the ways it has endured many attempts to eliminate it, and its continual impact, we cannot help but trust the word of God.

This is overwhelming evidence that God is good on his word. We can trust him and his word because of God’s faithfulness to fulfill what he had promised through Jesus. 

The eye witnesses of the resurrection shared their story and it was quickly written and broadly shared. The Story of Jesus as recorded in history is a verifiable fact as confirmed by the attention to details and the life lived by those who encountered it.

We can trust Gods word! When we consider the carefulness and accuracy by which it was transcribed and consider the wholistic nature of its narrative, we should affirm it as the reliable source of God’s truth in our lives.

If we neglect generosity, it doesn’t matter how good our investment portfolio is; we aren’t being good stewards. God will not bless us in unfaithfulness!

What’s mine—my time, my everything—is yours. This reflects a spirit of generosity. What’s mine is His, acknowledging God as our only provider.

The culture can’t be our God. If it is, it will only lead to hurt, sadness, and death in our lives. We cannot live for the culture and find our true purpose. Instead, we must live in a way that our lives worship only Jesus and what He has done for us.
